there are not roses in winter because its too cold for them to survive

You should never trim your bush in the winter or Jack frost will impregnate the buds and destroy the sap within and could even penetrate deep and make the hole thing infertile

wot sort of bush????????????? if it has teeth and snarls then leave it, if it flowers once a month then yeah give it a trim, if its infertile cut it all off and if it has a smell of haddock walk away theres nothing too see here
