Well that was your mucous plug that finally fell out. It can still be days or weeks for you to go into labor though. Now when you get your bloody show then that is when you are more than likely going to go into labor within 24 hours to a couple of days. Your lucky though, I haven't lost my plug and i am 39 wks as of yesterday.
Congrats and hopefully you will go into labor soon though, i am tired of being pregnant. I wish you the best of luck

I was at 42 weeks when they induced me, and I didn't lose my mucous plug until my contractions started becoming blindingly painful... in fact, I had been having contractions for hours (according to the monitor) but I didn't really feel them, just thought the baby was moving around, LOL. Mine looked, literally, like a 'plug' - a solid, gummy blob of caramel-colored mucous and blood.
It wasn't long after that when they took me down to the delivery room... my situation, and symptoms, were a bit different than your's, so I can't say for sure if you'll soon go into labor, but you'll probably want to keep a close watch for regular contractions... if you're not sure what contractions should be feeling like, then just pay attention for any regularly occuring feelings that become more intense, and more frequent. You will definetly know when the strong contractions begin!
Good luck with giving birth, and have a happy, healthy baby!

Good luck honey!
That's the beginning of labour, watch out for the waters and then call your hospital to say you're on your way.
If your contractions can be timed and you know when one is going to come then start jotting them down if you've time and take this with you.
In my experience, I lost the plug a day or so before my waters broke, contractions were immediately 6 minutes apart after that. I went in, they stopped. They started again after a few hours in bed on the ward. At 6mins again and within half an hour down to every 3 mins.
Our 3rd baby arrived by section 12 hours after my waters broke.
Get everything ready if you haven't. Chances are you are already en-route. But if you're reading this I wish you and your partner all the very best.

I started losing my plug at 37 weeks, but i didnt lose all of it until after about 37 hours of labor.
I had cramping in my back and belly on and off from 4 months, and heavily for hours at time the last three weeks of my pregnancy. I had full blown contractions the whole 10 days before I delivered.
Your plug isnt really stringy, its chunky. Like the glue they use when they mail you freebies and their glued with sticky tacky stuff to the carboard mailer. Or like jello. Its globby. And when you've passed all of it the last bits will have blood streaking through it.

Sweatheart, you are in labor. They say that a day or two before your plug should expel. Sometimes it happens on the same day. Just time your contractions (cramping). Once they begin to be less than 15 minutes apart you should go to the hospital.
