Fraternal twins are genetic if your mother or grandmother is a twin because super ovulation can be hereditary. I identical twins are strictly by chance.
" If your mother or maternal grandmother was or had fraternal twins, you might have inherited a gene for hyperovulation, increasing your chances of conceiving twins also."

Fraternal twins can run in a family due to a gene that causes hyper ovulation. This gene is passed down on the maternal side but can be passed from a father to a daughter. Identical twins are not genetic but are just a random thing. It has been hypothosized that there may be an enzyme in sperm that may promote the egg to split but nothing has been found to validate it.

Only fraternal twins run in families (on the mother's side) because the ability to release 2 eggs at once is inheritable. Identical twins is when the fertilized egg (only one egg and one sperm) splits into 2 compeletely by chance - so this has nothing to do with the mother's or the father's genes. For the record, identical twinning is not one egg being fertilized by 2 sperms.
If you search online, you will find the same info. I also go the same info from twins books I have, plus from my OB/GYN and perinatologists (doctors specializing in high-risk pregnancies).

Identical twins are a total fluke and do not run in families. Fraternal twins can run in families, because women can be pre-disposed to ovulate multiple eggs. Now if the man has fraternal twins on his side of the family that would not affect the woman since it has nothing to do with her ovaries. It would come from her side of the family.

Fraternal twins are genetic from the mothers side as they can carry down the way they ovulate ! you have more of a chance if you the female has a Auntie , Grandma from either her father or mothers side !as you can carry a inherited a gene for hyperovulation.. Has nothing to do with the male , and Yes Identical twins are by chance and chance only ..

Fraternal twins are genetic. The genetic part is the tendency for a woman to release two eggs during ovulation - you can pass on that gene to your kids, etc.
Identical twins is not genetic. Its kind of a "fluke" in nature.

Fraternal twins run in my family!
In general, it is believed that having fraternal (dizygotic) twins can be genetic and that this predisposition can cause women to be more likely to release more than one egg at a time, offering the chance for more than one egg to be fertilized at a time. Other factors that can increase your chances of having fraternal twins include using fertility treatments and a mother being over 35-40 years old when she becomes pregnant.

Because it can be genetic for a woman to ovulate twice in one month. Over active ovaries are genetic.
Its also a genetic weakness in some eggs to accept two sperm instead of one, which is something that mothers can pass to their daughters.
You can google it.
In some cases families who have women who have many babies every generation can all have twins by chance- as its much higher a chance of having twins the more children you have.

Fraternal twins are genetic on the maternal side. Some people do carry a gene to release more than one egg at a time and that gene can be passed down. That is how it is genetic.

confident, the probabilities of your having a twin being pregnant is greater yet your husband has no longer something to do with it. first of all, fraternal (unidentical) twins happen by way of fact the mum at ovulation released 2 eggs rather of the often happening one and the two have been given fertilized. This tendency is genetic and runs interior the mum's maternal relatives. that's multifactorial so it does not advise each and all of the being pregnant would be twin purely that possibilities are high greater. different aspects incorporate increasing age (>35), your ethnicity (severe in Africans, low in jap). a third team would be from the IVFs and different assisted being pregnant approaches that reason better than one egg to be available for fertilization. you will locate greater tips under
