National Flag Foundation Recommended Ceremonies For Flag Retirement and Burning

The United States Flag Code states: "The Flag, when it is in such condition that it is no longer a fitting emblem of display, should be destroyed in a dignified way, preferable by burning."

As everyone has recognized, it is the only proper way to dispose of a flag. In my community, it is common to give these flags to the American Legion of the VFW for a disposal ceremony. I'm a Vietnam vet and we do a formal ceremony about every quarter. There was something about just quietly burning the flags that seemed disrespectful also.

Burning the flag is the proper way of disposing it after it has. 1 Worn out, 2. Fallen on the ground.

When the U S Flag is no longer servicable to be display, the proper way to dispose of the flag is to burn it. Therefore, my answer is yes.

If this is the Iranian Flag, I shall burn it in a heartbeat.

Of course. The rules of the flag require it to be burned under specific parameters.
I wouldn't in protest but I also wouldn't endorse a constitutional amendment to ban flag burning. It is an expression of free speech, albeit a moronic expression.
