Exercise itself is the best way to make your bones strong, use is what makes the bones use the calcium you already get from your diet. You don't need supplements, and they would do you no good if you didn't exercise regularly anyway.
If you already have a sore shoulder, then rest it, pain is a sign that you are doing something you should not. But if you exercise in some form, every day, then you will build strong bones as well as muscles.

Milk, cheese, yogurt - milk products in general are a good source of calcium. You should build up the number of push ups you're doing gradually. You need to take a little break until your shoulder stops hurting or it will get worse..

Appart from mild exercise against resistance ( mild impanct as jogging, running etc), all products derivated from lilk are the best source of calcium for vertebrates such a us, humans.
Non fatcheese, cream, milk (natural milk, not the so called light of non lactose), spinach, etc..are god sources of calcium.

Best option is to have adequate milk/milk products in your diet. 1 1/2 pints of milk/milk product equivalents a day is ideal.

I don't think you have a problem with your bones. Your problem are the tendons and ligaments which need some time to adapt to the new stress. Don't push it too hard!
