I'd like to get one for my balcony and keep it in a pot. But will it get as big as a tree? Or will it stay a good size for a large pot?

As long as you don't get your lemon seeds from the same horticultural department as jack from jack and the bean stalk you should be alright. But if you do well then there will be enough cups of lemonade to quench the all of the thirst in China.

It is the perfect tree for balcony.
No it wont get as big as regular lemon tree. It's perfect for a large size pot.

Here are some others for the balcony.
Grow a complete citrus orchard on your porch or patio! Taken indoors in winter, they bring a touch of summer sweetness when the snow flies outside.
•Valencia Orange Tree
•Tangerine Tree
•Meyeri Lemon Tree

Why get a Meyer Lemon Tree?

Compact enough even for urban balconies and limited-space gardens, Meyer Improved lemon trees will begin bearing large, juicy, thick-skinned fruit at an early age! Even if there were no fruit at all, this evergreen would be attractive enough to grow as an ornamental.

I have a dwarf orange tree in my house that I have had for 10 years. I have kept it pruned so it is only 3 feet high. The fruit is edible but very sour. Best of all though are these adorable dwarf oranges every fall/winter. I bought it in Florida as a tiny seedling- I live in Minnesota and bring it indoors every (late) fall, it spends all spring/summer outdoors. It is a delight to have! Good luck!
