Global warming is happening, thats true. The fact that he said humans are the cause is a LIE!!! He is also a hypocrite. tells US what to do and never does it himself. got a huge plane and eats meat. he should ride his bike everywhere and be a vegetarian. if he really cared.
why do people like him think we are stupid? and why do people fall into traps like these so the government can have more control in ur life?

I'm sure Gore is right but it has not warmed up where I live. In fact we have more snow than usual for this time of year.

Never did, it's been in the 70's here in Tennessee and tomorrow we're supposed to get closer to 80! Not normal for December.

I think it is a natural process of the planet, with nothing to do with man. There are those that will use it to maniulate the masses. They scare me --not global warming.

Global Warming is not so easy to diagnose, dismiss or detect; but it is happening.
The disappearing Artic Ice pack, the melting glaciers of Greenland and the melting of glaciers in Antarctica are all key indicators of an increase in average temperatures world wide. The next big indicator is the increase in storm activity; storms are driven by warmer water.
The El Nino and El Nina phenomena in the Pacific is hard to predict analyze or even understand why it happens, but when it does the effects are never good.
I was watching Fearless Planet on the History Channel and they said that a few thousand years ago the Sahara Desert was a lush tropical forest, but a one degree shift in the earth’s axis increased the heat and killed off the jungle. Satellites have found the old river beds and finally realize what happened. The earth goes through regular climate shifts and we don’t have much control over it.
It is possible that global warming is being caused by an increase in sun spot activity (sun spots are hotter), but we haven’t seen too much of that. It could be a result of an axis shift or and orbital shift of the earth, but we haven’t seen that either. What we HAVE SEEN is the loss of green forests and areas, which reduces the amount of carbon dioxide, the increase in burning fossil fuels that create carbon dioxide, the increase in the human population and we all exhale CO2 as well a general increase in temperature changes that is outside of normal along with longer and more persistent droughts.
Global Warming doesn’t necessarily mean a warmer climate, although both poles have seen that. What it means is that more sun light is trapped by the Greenhouse effect and that puts more energy into the system to make more changes and more violent weather. We have had a very quite past two hurricane seasons, but Katrina was a nasty one and it only reached category 4 and didn’t hit New Orleans head on. We have also seen a hurricane make it almost to Greenland, which has never happened. Despite record rainfall in the area we are still in a drought in a lot of areas in the South US. What has happened is the weather has gotten more violent and so we see more of these huge ice storms like the one last night and we see things like England and Northern Europe suffering a long heat wave that broke records and proved fatal to many people.
What we do know is this; back when dinosaurs roamed the earth coal and oil were actually living plants absorbing CO2, as the plants died and slipped underwater in swamps and bogs they eventually decayed away and over a few million years were crushed in to solid rock, gas or oil. Over 90% of the people who have ever lived on the planet earth in the life time of the entire human species are alive today and ALL of them are burning CO2 generating fuel. We are not only putting the CO2 that is locked in our current plants into the air, but we are reaching back in time to burn that CO2 that had been locked up for millions of years.
When you burn wood, coal, gasoline, any oil product, or natural gas you are burning the hydrogen and releasing the carbon; which unites with free oxygen to form carbon dioxide so the more of it you burn, and we are burning several dozen life times of it, the more carbon dioxide we release into our air. We are a long, long way off from becoming Venus; which is run away greenhouse effect gone riot; but we do both have sulfuric acid rain and that is not a good thing.
We can’t shift the earth around in space or on its axis and we can’t control the sun’s activities, but we CAN control what we are doing and that is burning way too much fossil fuel. Global Warming is pretty much accepted by all reputable scientists (except for those in China and the Republican Administration in the US) no matter what the cause. The fact that humans are contributing to it is widely accepted, what is anyone can agree to is that if we reduce our carbon emissions then we can take measures and we can do the only thing that it is possible to do to control our climate.
The earth will survive no matter what happens to it, but those annoying pests called life forms may not. Over 95% of the species that have ever lived on the planet are not extinct. It doesn’t take much to push the delicate balance of our world out of kilter. Scientists disagree on how much and Al Gore preaches the worst case, but he has predicted the loss of the Artic Ice Pack and he has been proven right there. Let’s say he is over acting a little, who can blame him we are talking about the only planet that can support our kind of life within reach or possibly in existence! If we mess up this planet it is the only one we got and the consequences of losing it are just too big to face! If Al Gore is even 1/3rd correct then we are in for some tough times and if we don’t reduce our CO2 emissions then eventually it will get as bad as he preaches.
The important thing is that there is only one way to fix the problem and that is to reduce our carbon emissions. If the earth is warming up on its own then we need to take measures to cool it down so it doesn’t matter if Al Gore is even half right what matters is the part that is right is undeniable and the consequences of him being even more right are just too bad to face.
I don’t know where you live, but most people on the planet live along the coast or a river and if the sea level rises just a few feet that will mean a huge number of homeless and displaced people. That alone is a reason to listen to him and take heed to what he says and it is why he was able to share the Nobel Peace Prize for his work.
I live in Texas and we had the 2nd most number of days over 100 degrees F this year, we have had record rainfall and are still under drought conditons with lakes are record lows, we have have an unusually mild winter so far and the last three summers have been roasting. I for one see the effects of Global Warming as plain as the sweat on my face.
