Saint Bernards are friendly because the breed has been developed over a couple of hundred years to be friendly. This was done by eliminating the aggressive strains of each generation and the ultimate out come is this big friendly oaf. They are usually associated with mountain rescues in snow countries of Europe.

Betwen the ages of 4 and 8 I was beaten up on a daily basis by a Bernard who was a few years older than me. He may have been friendly but had a strange way of showing it!
