I think I can solve your problem. It is the difference in the American and the British spelling. I live back and forth between the 2 countries. When I am at my home in Texas, I spell the color gray. When I am at my home in London, I spell the colour grey. Hope this is what you needed.

Websters Collegiate Dictionary lists "gray" as the primary spelling and "grey" as an alternative. This is for the U.S. It could be different in some other english speaking country.
By the way, it is called gray hair, because it has a gray color (or grey hair because it has a grey color).

Usually with an 'a,' but I spell it both ways. It can depend on the way I saw it last or if I'm referencing something that has it spelled one way or another.
