Your legally allowed to walk out with your wife and go to a doctor who lets you.

The doctor has the right to limit the number of people in the office and has the duty to do so in some situations. You would not be allowed in the room if the doctor suspected abuse for example. Also, due to the hazards of radiation you would not be allowed in during an x-ray as there is no benefit from the exposure you would receive.

MRI, X-ray is usually out! If some Doc prohibits you from being with your wife for a standard visit, find another Doc!

Standard check-up...yes.

Anything that uses Xray or MRI technology is dangerous and many steps are taken in the room to protect both the patients and the technicians.

They won't permit outsiders in there due to the danger of contamination.

They don't allow that because the doctor wants the patient to be able to discuss whatever with them. The docotrs are also obligated to ask have you been abused or a victim of abuse. They can't help if the patient is embarrassed. male Doctors always have a female assistant in the room with them so there is no liability of bad behaviour.

If your wife wants you there, it is her right. However, there is danger of unnecessary radiation exposure when you are present for x-rays, mri's, etc. In rare cases, when you absolutely insist, or other extreme situation they may have you sign a release and offer you a lead apron to wear.

No. There is no statute that prohibits a physician from establishing such a policy. If you disregarded the doctor's instruction you would be guilty of trespass.

If you dislike the Doctor's policy you should consider switching health care providers.

The Doctor doesn't have the right to keep you out. Switch doctors.

No you are not doing anything illegal and if anyone say that you are is lying. Your wife and you have rights concerning certain information that cannot be withheld.
