It depends. If it is during a physical exam then they can ask you to leave. Doctors want to discuss things with patients first. It has not been unknown for batterers to try to keep victims from reporting behavior to doctors.
Doctors don't do MRI's or xrays techs' do. The techs excuse you because of the radiation danger.

If your wife has asked that you are in the room with her, then the doctor can't keep you out without due cause. In the case of x-rays or an MRI, you probably wont' be allowed in the room at the time they take the x-ray and I not even the doctor is in the same room when they do an MRI. But for standard check-ups, consultations, etc I don't see why there should be an issue. I hate doctors and on the few occasions I've gone recently my boyfriend was with me the entire time. You might want to call the doctor's office and ask why you weren't allowed in the room even though your wife requested it. If they tell you it's because of doctor/patient confidentiality, remind them that by asking you to say in the room with her your wife was giving her express permission for the doctor to share the details of the visit with you.

The surgeon has the splendid to cut back the variety of people interior the workplace and has the activity to achieve this in some circumstances. you will not be allowed interior the room if the surgeon suspected abuse as an occasion. additionally, because of the adverse aspects of radiation you will not be allowed in in the process an x-ray as there is not any earnings from the exposure you're able to acquire.

From a doctor's viewpoint, having someone in the room during an examination, even a spouse, is bad idea. From a HIPAA standpoint, not even a person's spouse is given access to their medical history. It could be argued that by allowing someone other than the patient access to their medical history, you did not protect their privacy. If the doctor really doesn't want you back there, he can refuse to allow you in the examining room the same way I can refuse to allow spouses in the back of an ambulance with a patient I'm treating.

If the doctor says no then that's the answer. Try to force your way in and most likely neither of you will see the doctor. Why would you feel you need to be there especially if the doctor didn't want you there? There could be any number of reasons he'd prefer to talk to your wife alone. And please don't start thinking he's wanting to have sex.

The only reason the Dr would say no is if your wife requested it. Ask your wife, not the Dr.

usually adults go in alone but if the patient is more comfortable with their spouse being there the doctor shouldn't refuse
i suggest that you have a long talk with your wife
is she just afraid of doctors
or is there another problem like the doctor being inappropriate
if so get a new doctor fast

No because it's called doctor patient confidentiality. She is the patient not you. And she may have asked the doctor not to let you in and didn't want to tell you that.

I don't see why you can't go in for a check up, but I don't think they'll let you go in for an x-ray.
