I live in California, can I send an inmate money via regular mail? Not cash, but a money order?

Yes the prison check the mail and they will take the money order out and put it on the inmates books. You will have to make the money order out to the prison and be sure that you put the inmate name and CDC number on the money order

Depends on where the inmate is, not on where you are. The prison should have instructions on how to send money to the prisoners account.

yes but the wise thing to do is call the facility where the inmate is and find out their rules because from one facility to the next may be different
