I view Christmas as a time when family can get together to celebrate. It's a time when there's a good feeling all about. The stores have sales (even if they make big money, it's just business, it's what they do, sell). There's decorative lights everywhere. Christmas is my favorite holiday. I love how the mood in the air is. The "spirit of Christmas" is all around. People are nice to each other. Friends give each other gifts.

I don't view Christmas as a religious holiday. It may have been started out as one, but that's not the true meaning of Christmas today. Traditions change. In truth, December 25th isn't even the birth date of Jesus Christ (who may not have even been a real person). His real birth date (if he lived) was in March. People get too carried away with religious at times. No one sits down to think logically about it.

Christmas is a time of sharing joys. Don't ruin that by involving religion into it.

Christmas can mean different things, depending upon who you're asking the question to.
To my 7 year old sister, the true meaning of Christmas to her is getting presents.
To my parents, Christmas is about giving gifts to others, and thinking less of what we're receiving.
To my grandparents, Christmas is about celebrating the birth of Jesus and attending church A.S.A.P. (they're religious).
And to me, Christmas means spending time with relatives far and near, having a chance to spend time with people you normally don't spend time with, and to relax on a non school day.
Christmas doesn't need a point, because the true meaning of Christmas is different in other people's eyes. I think that as long as you are having fun, it really doesn't matter what Christmas should be about.

Actually the story behind Christmas has everything to do with pagan worship and a lot to do with religion. Christianity was being pushed through all of Europe during the medievil days and the pagans did not want to give up their celebration of the Winter Solstice, so the priests made a comprimse, we will let you keep your pagan holiday with all of it's rights (such as mistletoe, the yule log, the tree and so many more that revolve around superstitions and the like) but let's slap a label on it, call it Christmas and say your celebrating Jesus' birth, which your right is not in Decemeber, but was more than likely in October if you read the accounts from the bible.

As far as my feelings on the subject, well, it isn't a holiday that is celebrated because people want to bring honor to God or his son Jesus, but it has turned into a commercial hit. Now, some people do celebrate it for the right reasons or so they think. But when it comes down to it how many people care about paying respect to Jesus more than they care about the Wii thier parents have hidden under the tree?

Just my opionion, but the other facts I stated can be looked up in any encyclopedia or even on wikipedia. I always find it interesting to check out the origin of birthdays, holloween, and Easter, and if you do the research , I can guarentee you will be surprised.

It seems that retailers really need the Christmas sales (Black Friday) so it has become over commercialized. With everything that goes on around this time of the year it can be stressful because of unrealistic expectations for yourself and the expectations of others. I don't think that people are nicer but I do live in Massachusetts. People aren't friendly here as a rule. There are exceptions but generally people seem pretty miserable here. I grew up here but I've spent time down south (8 years). It is what you make it. But since we don't live in a vacuum, it can be hard to be cheerful all of the time.

I love Christmas but unfortunately, I don't get to see my extended relatives and that is what would make me really happy. But they live too far away from where I do that it would be too difficult. Also there are so many relatives. I see my family regularly so Christmas isn't that much different.
I don't care about the gifts. I like to give but I don't care about receiving.

It should be a time of sharing joys, but what with people being pressured into spending more money than they have, sometimes it isn't.

It is an ancient pre-Christian holiday, though, so it doesn't mark just Christ's birth, it marks the time when the days are starting to get longer. It's the 'rebirth' of the sun, so it's kind of special that way too, because it reminds us that there is also light inside. This is Yule.

Christmas is the holiday that is very religious. We wouldn't have this holiday if Jesus wasn't born. I think many religions can celebrate Christmas because their religion is based on Jesus. For me, Christmas the season to forget about problems between people and family members and enjoy the time you have. Christmas is also the season to give and get presents. Many holidays are near this holiday like Hanukkah and Kwanzaa.

I like Christmas
the truth is that Christmas is about the Birth of Christ and the celebration of it (even if we celebrate on the wrong day ) That is why I love it so much If it were not for that I would not like Christmas if it was not about Jesus Christ. It would only be another sales gimmick for greedy salesmen
