I am going this week for my ultrasound to determine the baby's sex. What, if anything, did you do before the ultrasound to get the baby to move?
Thanks

I go on Thursday for my 18 week ultrasound! I was told by many women I know to make sure that you dink some orange juice and maybe a small candy bar to get that baby up and moving so you can get the money shot. I can't wait until Thursday :) I'm hoping for a bouncing(literally) baby boy. Hope you get what you are hoping for

Nothing really. I just had my 18 week ultrsound a couple of weeks ago. I didnt know what the baby's movement felt like before I had mine but during your ultrasound the baby is most likely to move, so your baby is probably already moving without you even noticing. So just be patient

I went in between 18 and 19 weeks so excited to find out the gender. However, the technician acted like I was crazy to think I could find out with any certainty what the gender was so soon. I left so disappointed and had to wait another month to find out I was having a boy. It seems as though everyone on here has no problem finding out that early so maybe I just had a crappy tech - hopefully yours goes better than mine! Good luck!

I just drank the amount of water I was told to. That's all you have to do, the baby moves when your bladder is full like that.

Also, FYI, the sonogram at 18 weeks is not to determine the baby's sex. It's to check for spinabifida and other disabilities, heart defects, amniotic fluid level, weight of the baby, all the organs of the baby, placenta location, etc... Finding out the sex is just one they do if the parent wants to know.

I used to drink a cold glass of water topped full with ice cubes then lie on your back. but its still early i never felt mine move until 23 weeks properly. I'm now 30 weeks and baby kicks and rolls round like its playing footy. Good luck in finding out the sex of your baby as at our 20 weeks scan the baby wouldn't show anything to us only its bum. baby must have wanted it to be a surprise for us.

I drank a glass of Orange Juice and she was just moving all around it good for them to move during the ultra sound but not too much because at that time the tech is going to be trying to capture pictures and take measurements. Good Luck

we didnt do anything to get the baby to move. the baby is small still so they probably will be able to see the baby from all angles and determine the sex. i was very anxious as well and wanted to make sure that i left knowing the baby's sex. its rare that they are unable to determine

You don't want the baby to move. They need to take precise measurements and look at the sex and if he's moving then they won't be able to do that. Just them messing around with your tummy and the device being on your stomach will get him going.

I drank orange juice and ate a Snickers bar and my baby still slept during the ultrasound! But luckily the tech wiggled my belly and our baby moved and spread her legs, revealing her girl parts. :)

nothing. babies in this stage move so much you would think they were doing backflips. the technician is trained to try to get a good look and sometimes all you get is a look at their butt. be patient and don't worry. it may work out just fine and you'll see just what you've been waiting for. good luck!
