Yes, you should wear either a tampon or a menstrual cup while swimming. Despite the false rumors you may have heard, your period will not stop when you're in the water. It will keep going. The only difference is that it'll stain your suit and/or show up in the water. I highly recommend Playtex Gentle Glide tampons and the DivaCup menstrual cup. Best of luck!

Well, you sure can't wear a pad.
Yes, use a tampon.
(And yes you CAN bleed in the pool. Even if it did stop while you were swimming, you would start bleeding HEAVILY as soon as you got out of the water. Now, that is EWWW. Do you want blood to run down your legs as you get out of the water??)
****And, NO swimming while having your period does NOT cause cramps.
I can't believe the BAD information going around out there.

Yes, wear a tampon.
Contrary to the popular belief, the menstrual flow does NOT stop when bathing/swimming/showering.
2Beagles and Kim are very misinformed. The period does NOT stop while in water. I'm almost 40 years old, I have had my period since I was 12... never in my life did my period stop while bathing.

Yes, you have to wear a tampon. That, or skip the practice...but you probably don't want to do that.
