Yes it is a real question. The yare comparable. Look at Peta own website. Animals are tortured in order for us to have food. Lobsters are boiled alive.

We have cows as a surplus. we have too many of them. So if one cow that's slaughter is not eaten. Shouldn't the chef go to jail. FYI I neither Like Peta or Micheal Vick.

what do you call hunting? Fishermen go out and hunt fish for a profit. Fish are taken out of the water. Lobsters are taken out of their habitat only to be boiled alive.

I think that they are two completely different situations. Animals that we eat are intended for slaughter and dogs are not seen as a common food (at least in the US) People take a liking to dogs because they are mans best friend and are in many households in the US. They are not looked upon the same as cattle or chickens which everyone knows will be eaten. Therefore, torturing dogs is worse than killing animals ment for food because societies morals/taboos dictate what is right and wrong. Also people are eating the animals you mention to survive ( I know that we could survive on vegtables but humans are omnivores and should eat meat and vegtables). What Vick did was merely for entertainment and personal gain. He deserves the punishment.

Eating animals raised specially for food (cows, pigs, chickens, certain fish, etc) is far different than raising, and betting on, dogs to fight to the death. And then killing the dogs that do not perform well.

Enjoying a good steak and watching two dogs rip each other apart for fun and profit have nothing in common.

PETA is an extremeist organization and I don't pay much attention to them. And yeah, people who eat meat can complain about Michael Vick. Eating meat isn't illegal.

Yes we should. I love dogs and cats! I want to kick MV's *** for fighting dogs and hurting them.
When you slaughter a cow, it is quick and rather painless. We are supposed to eat beef in this country. It is a violation of our social norms and other things to harm and/or eat a dog or cat.

And I wasn't aware that Vick was only hungry and wanted to brutally kill those animals to eat.....

Do you REALLY see a comparison here?

Why Lobster?

EDIT: Actually...Lobsters are better steamed alive.....

while i agree that people who contribute to animal slaughter are somewhat hypocritical for hating vick, forcing dogs to fight and killing some of them violently is way beyond using animals for food to survive the way mankind has for thousands of years

I think if someone takes two cows and makes them fight to the death, then eats them, then no, it's the same thing. Otherwise, Why not?

Also, it's not illegal to raise livestock for food, it's illegal to have dogs fight.
