my aunt entered her and I in a gingerbread house making contest. I have made a victorian style hosue, but I don't know what to decorate my roof with. Have any ideas? If you have pictures they would be greatly apprichated.

Necco Wafers look amazing for a roof. Tile them starting at the bottom and overlapping a bit for each row above that.

Something else that I have done is gotten sour belts (flat sour gummy ribbon) and cut them into uneven lengths (about 1/2" to 3/4") and layered them in the same manner as detailed above. This makes the roof look more like a paper and shingle roof.

Use nonpareils ( multicolored would be nice ) for the roofing shingles, to create a Victorian style roof. For a light dusting of snow on the roof & chimney, consider using unsweetened shaved coconut flakes. Good luck in the contest.

Frosting is always a versatile choice, due to the different piping tips you can put on your pastry bag. Here's another idea: Go to your local candy store (or the candy section in Wal-Mart or Taget), and just look around with your Aunt! You'll find all sorts of fun things to use!
