I have seen this question on here a million times. I have the same problem with the SRS light being on ALL THE TIME. I have seen all the answers but I have never seen anyones answer as to what would happen if you just left it on all the time and never fixed it? Does it mean my airbags wont go off if i get in an accident? I've had it on for almost a year and I might as well leave it like that if its not hurting anything.

When the SRS light is On the system has determined that a problem exists and because the system doesn't have the ability to judge how that detected problem will affect the air bags deployment the system shuts down the airbag system. They will not deploy in an accident where a normally functioning system would deploy the bags.

The SRS is a supplemental restraint system meaning that your seat belts are the primary restraint system. We're told that "airbags do save lives"; if that is true then you compromise your safety by not attending to the cause of the SRS light being on.

The good news is it probably won't cost you anything to get it fixed at a Honda dealer. Honda extended the warranty on the one part that is most likely to be the cause of the light coming on for all Civics between 2001 and 2004. You didn't post the year of your car but its probably in that range. If so, take it to any Honda dealer for diagnosis. I'm sure they will find the problem to be either a failed Occupant Presence Detection Sensor (warranty extended to 10 years or 150,000 miles, whichever comes first) or for the switch in the seatbelt buckle that tells the SRS computer that you have your seat belt on (lifetime warranty on seat belts). Its almost certain to be one or the other, so save yourself the grief and get it fixed

hope that helps

It's normal that the SRS light flashes for about 6 seconds, The srs system is performing a self check. If the light stays on for like 2 minutes that's not normal take it a shop. Or call a Honda place most of the time we check the codes for free because the seat belts have extended warranty. The models with the least amount of warranty have like 14 years or 140,000k. If is a normal problem or internal failure, they will not cover accidents and water and other stuff like that. Good luck!

What Is Srs Light

It all depends which SRS light is on? If you're car has side airbags and you place a purse or object on your front passengers side seat, it might make the light go on. But if it's on all the time, you need to take it to the dealership and have it looked at. There is a chance if you were in an accident that the airbags won't deploy. Get an appointment right away.

It means something is (or was) wrong with something in the airbag system. First I would disconnect the battery for 5 minutes or so and see if it turns off. If not, it would be a good idea to have someone hook a computer to it to see what exactly it is. Then you can make a better decision on whether to fix it or not.
