We used to do this, the kids and I. One year it would be a kitchen/cooking theme with cute little gadgets like a candy thermometer, spices, one of those tiny spice graters, cinnamon sticks, etc

Another year we did "art" with paintbrushes, a box of pastels, drawing pencils etc.

Or socks and scarves - its always fun because everyone is getting the same "theme" and its funny to see some of the socks being given as gifts - my daughter loves wild and crazy socks so its always fun shopping for her -- its just seems to bring another feeling of "cohesiveness" to xmas and no one is left floundering wondering what the heck to get as stocking stuffers --

Rita I think the "coffee" theme would be right up your alley and jingle your Christmas bells for you :-)

We have never thought of that but what a great idea. I am going to have to give that a try.
I just put the favorite little things my kids enjoyed, make up hair products etc... Your way sounds like more fun.

Christmas Stocking Themes

Naw. I don't much go in for themed anything...I sure do hope I know where the stocking from last year went! We were using a five foot long stocking for all of us, hung off of a hook on the back door near the tree. I had to give emergency surgery to that stocking more than once, because it kept on bursting at the seams!!

My eldest daughter always does stockings for everybody in the family....she can find such neat things and her boys love helping with the shopping! I'm like a kid digging into mine and get more excited than at the big gifts! lol

Nope-being as everyone is older now we primarily do jokes, toys and candy. We spend all year picking out "just the right thing" at thrift stores and dollar stores. It's our favorite part.

Well, if they have a favorite sport.. you could do a theme with a ton of things like it they like baseball..
you could do baseball cards.
a baseball.
maybe a glove, if they have a big stocking.
umm... thats a hard one really, it depends on what they like.

What a great Idea!
I am apparently not too creative when it comes to this kind of thing! I think I will copy this idea for next year!
Thanks! ♥
