The Holocaust is a part of History, and as such, it should be taught, paying attention to the curriculum and needs of each age group (I don't think it should be in every grade).
One reason why it is particularly important to remember the holocaust of WWII is that the holocaust of WWI (of the Armenians) was not widely taught or known about. It has been suspected that this silence around the mass killings of WWI led Hitler to believe he also could get away with such killings. He said in reference to WWI, "Who now remembers the Armenians?"
It is important to preserve heritage and knowledge, so that we can learn from the mistakes of our predecessors. As such, I feel it is right to teach in schools.

I feel that the subject of the Holocaust is something that needs to be taught but on an age appropriate level. There are several Holocaust museums throughout the United States and Europe and I would suggest consulting the staff directly if possible or at least their websites for ways to adress this subject in an age appropriate manner, particularly with young children.
Also, it may be appropriate to see if there are historical fiction or non-fiction titles that are age appropriate for your audience. I recommend Hanna's Suitcase (a non-fiction title) about a group of young children in Japan who found a suitcase that belonged to a little girl who was killed during the Holocaust.

No.It has become an industry unto itself.Go read Churchill's massive tomes on WW2 and Eisenhower's works. If those towering figures didn't dwell on it,none of us should.Further, there were many holocausts that dwarf that specific one in the 20th century, but do not get media attention. As a part of WW2 yes.But not as a special study course.

How do I FEEL! That is a bizarre way to phrase this question. Do you want to know how I feel about teaching the American Revolution or slavery. The Holocaust was a very important event the world history. It is very important to be taught--unless, of course you are Muslim and then it must be hidden

There is more than one holocaust, and a long history of pogroms and other persecutions involving any number of minority groups. Hitler was not just after Jews -- he was going after anyone that did not fit the nationalist ideal. I believe strongly that history should be taught as it ocurred with as little cultural bias as possible. So the brief answer is YES it should be taught so that such a series of events doesn't sneak up on us again. (hmmmm....like now?)

I think if we don't teach every aspect of history, we are doomed to repeat it (as has been said). It was a horrible period in history, but it must be told. I hope the UK changes it's minds about this issue.

i think its good to teach it in school. kids talk about killing people and discriminating people, but when my class leart about it, it really opened our eyes to what happens when you kill people. And its a very important part in history.
