Longitudinal waves are waves that have vibrations along or parallel to their direction of travel.

Examples are sound, waves in water, explosions, etc.

All sound waves are longitudinal. Also those created by applying pressure on a 2D surface, like when you jump on a trampoline. Check out the Wikipedia source.
