Do you think a person should be terminated/dismissed or suspended for this act?

Pilferage is stealing.
The punishment should fit the crime. If he takes an occasional pen or box of paper clips from storage, then I wouldn't punish him. If he is taking boxes of blank CDs for his personal use, then I would have a mild punishment. If he is stealing laser printers I would fire him -- and possibly call the police.

The real question is what toolbag used the term pilferage? Did they stop by in England circa 1558?

pilferage is to steal. they shoud be terminated
