Though honeybees are not active at night foraging they will actively defend their nest at night and also do house cleaning, heating and cooling activities at night.

Most bees such as HONEYBEES are DAY-ACTIVE bees.However, there are also some bees which include MEGALOPTA GENALIS which became NOCTURNAL or NIGHT-ACTIVE bees. Such bees retained their remarkable visual abilities at night.The researchers found that specialized visual cells in such bee's brain had morphologies suited to SUMMING light signals and intensifying the received image.
