Is it true that depending on the amount of disk space you have in your internet options settings, can effect how many cookies will be kept on file?

I have been told that if the limit is reached (like you have set it to 1 mg for example) it may begin to overwrite older cookies... but will it necessarily be in order by date? In other words... will the oldest ones get deleted and replaced by the new?

For some reason... when testing it on my computer... i have tried visiting new websites... to see if the old ones will delete .. and they dont?

If your HDD is full, the cookies will not install (no room).

What is a cookie for?
No big deal really except that when you download a program, some 'dingbats' also install a cookie to keep track of your computer use. They then use that cookie to see your computing habits especially your buying habits. They then use that info to know in advance of how they can "suck you in" to buy something.

Not all cookies are bad though, I leave the cookies that I want on my HDD to help software developers to track my usage. They then use that info to track problems and sometimes ask for my advice on how they can improve.

Microsoft, CNET, ZDNET, etc., are some beneficial sites.

When I run a program to remove cookies, I leave the ones I want, after all not ALL software developers are "DINGBATS", just TOO many of 'em.

As far as I know, cookies will stay around indefinitely, until explicitly deleted -- either by you, or the sites that created them. The Internet is not well designed to act as a "session" -- where you log on to a particular site, and interact with it until you are done, and cookies are a convenient way of implementing such a model.
