sounds like your making the WRONG effort. Using the wrong triad. All the legwork in the world won't help you solve a quadratic equation. Make the right effort and your results will be different.

You are told by your parents, teachers and government that you must work hard to achieve happiness. This causes a conflict in you as you know deeply that this is neither true nor possible because it takes no work to 'feel' happiness. You see clearly that all the striving and driving towards this imaginary goal of success only ends in exhaustion yet you are conditioned to continue looking for it and the approval of these authorities that originally told you to pursue it. It's all a big imaginary game intended to ensure the continuation of each society.
There is nothing there. How could life be found in something imaginary? You are life.

working hard does count, think of it this way, you might of been hurt even if you were not working hard, right?
while dealing with the world, you must also at times learn how to tune out the world,
if working hard gives you meaning, a good feeling, that you have tried to apply yourself to your task at hand, that will stay with you
that is what counts, in the long run, you can look at yourself and say, success or not, i tried

Life is absurd. Perhaps we should concentrate less on working hard on careers etc. and enjoy life passionately?
