I have a case manager/social worker because everyone has one who goes to my psychiatry clinic. People automatically assume I'm on probation or got my kids taken away or do drugs. I don 't have kids, I'm not in any trouble with the law, & NEITHER do I do drugs.

I was shocked when my terminally ill grandmother was assigned one when she was recently hospitalized. It never occurred to me before that such a needed existed.

Because most people who have a social worker are either on drugs, have had their kids taken away or have psychiatric problems. The chances are the you have an issue.

People do not know what these jobs entail so they assume the worst. In my state, people who are in trouble with the law get probation officers NOT social workers.

I just wouldn't let anyone know I have such a thing. Nobody needs to know. I don't have one, but I know what kind of clinic you're talking about, and you can't help it.
