I would like to give my wife proof sets from every country that she has roots in. I am still trying to track down German and Irish proof sets from 1980. Any tips or leads would be helpful. I've tried Ebay and not had too much luck. Thanks so much for all the help!

Proof sets from Ireland were not issued on a yearly basis. They made some in 1928 then skipped up to 1966 for the next ones. They did however make a set in 1986. It may be very hard to find and pricey around $100. You can try www.gbcoins.com, www.millersmint.com (U.S & World), www.harlenjberk.com (U.S. & World) and www.dharrisonco.com (try first). Now it looks like the Germans made them every year through the 1980's, even from different mints, so there may be more than one set from each year, the difference being the mint mark on the coins. They look like there are in the $40 range. You can try the above except for gbcoins, he only deals with coins of the UK that includes Ireland the Republic. You can also try Dennis Gill for both sets, he has no web site, PO Box 175, Garden City, NY 11530 516-333-5613. Hope this points you in the right direction.
