4x^2 - 4x = 4(x^2 - x) complete the square on the x terms

= 4(x^2 - x + 1/4) - 4((1/4)
= 4(x-1/2)^2 - 1

thus, a = 4, b = -1/2 and c = -1

Minimum point is at (1/2, -1) --the vertex of the parabola
