No not at all....just Go and buy the New CD DRIVE and connect it as often...and make sure it got a CD comes with it coz you might need it,,,,,it's really easy to do ti just say "I CAN DO IT" don't worry the worst thing might happens is that you'll have to return everything the way it was,,,and I'll be there if you needed any help just IM at info_info3@yahoo.com...Good luck

Other then making sure that the connector on the back of the new CD Drives is the same as the old one (most likely an IDE connector), you can put any prand in your computer. They are all the same. You can even live dangerously, and go with a CD or even a DVD burner if you want.

Given the probable "age" of your computer You most certainly will need a conventional, IDE based CD drive. Nowadays the best buy will be a combo CD/DVD RW drive. You can buy from any respectable brand for under 100 bucks.

Just make sure it has the right cabling. If your current one is a IDE Cd-rom, make sure the new one is also and you should be fine. Take the old one out, put the new one in and you're good to go.

Their all compatible with any desktops currently.

depends on if you want to hook it up IDE or SATA....but that's about the only difference in them
