I have friend that I knew from BEFORE when he was single. He used to make jokes about how women did not want to be with him. I imagine this bothered him even more so because he is a great catch and he knew it. Fast forward one year he met someone and a year later he got engaged. Now he has been engaged almost a year. Why is my friend still making jokes about how women find him unnattractive?

I want to hear from married couples because you have been through the whole engagement experience.

thank you for your cooperation.

He is still self-conscious about his looks. He may look nice now, but did not look so nice in the past - like in high school or something. If his history of being perceived as unattractive is longer than his history of women appreciating his looks, it may take him some time to start thinking differently. His fiance should encourage him to start looking deeper into the special things about him beyond his looks. It feels good to hear that you're attractive, but it feels better to know that people appreciate you for your personality and would rather have you over a Denzel or Halle Berry.

For one reason, he likes the attention, when he says he is unattractive, people tell him hes a idiot, and that he is good looking, and he thrives off the attention. I know this because I am the same way.

As, for him being bitter about women, hell tell me one guy that doesnt make jokes about women?

He has some insecurity that he just can't let go of. It has nothing to do with how other women see him, it's really about how he see's himself and that doesn't change if he's single, engaged or married.

Fishing for compliments? Feeling insecure? There could be a number of reasons why someone would act like this. But my bet is he's fishing for compliments.

Sounds like he is insecure. Insecure people have a way of making people think they are the opposite.

Insecure. Prob down the line in his marriage he'll prob cheat to try to PROVE to himself he still has it. It's a character fault.

Residual inescurity, he is worried that if he loses this one or shows a soft side he may go back to having nothing.

Insecurity.

Some people just want to hear, "Oh, shut up...I think you're attractive" when they complain like that. I'm sure it's nothing to stress about.
