We have a fake one simply because I am cheap. Here are some pros and cons of each
-Real-
Pros
Christmas tree farms help the environment by cleaning the air
real trees are 100% biodegradable
They smell really good
They look real and beautiful
cons
Pineneedles in the carpet
sap
fire hazard
They can be very expensive
you have to string lights yourself
-Fake-
Pros
They are cheaper and last for years
They are convenient especially pre-lit
They are strong enough to hold any ornament
They are fire safe
Cons
Artificial tree production is bad for the environment
They are not biodegradable
They don't smell good
They don't look as beautiful

Fake. I got tired of real ones. Its a pain to water it everyday, to put up with the needles and usually by christmas, they become a fire hazard. Besides that, a REAL tree doesn't belong IN a house, when you really think about it.

Mines fake I have had it for five years and its still in good shape. I bought a fake one for i wouldn't have to keep buying one every year. (save money)
