I have to hard drive disks. one has the operating system.
the other one is a slave one. the slave one is just for storing
music and movies and music videos. I just format the main
primary hard drive disk and re-install XP SP2. Now,
when I want to put a video file from my slave hard drive disk
it opens the media player 11 and it said something about
a codec, i install the codec. and now there is another error
that appears and it won't let me watch my video files.
what's wrong? how do i fix this problem?

It doesn't matter what hard drive the video is on. Try downloading the ffdshow codec pack and you shouldn't have any more problems.

You may also want to consider using VLC as your multimedia player. It has built-in codecs (the same as ffdshow), so you never have to worry about downloading them anymore. It's at http://www.videolan.org
