To me, their coffee is waay too strong...almost tasting burnt...and too expensive for daily consumption. Yet, everywhere I go, I see the familiar cups in happy hands. I'll take Green Mountain brand any day! Lol Anyone agree about Starbuck's?

I hear you!
Honestly, I think the main reason people go to Starbucks is because it's a status symbol in the beverage world. When someone sees another person with a Starbucks cup, the first thought is probably, "That person has money (read: class)."
I know that was true where I went to college - the "rich"students went to Starbucks and the "poor" students went to a local coffee shop called the Java Joint. Both sects looked down on the other. LOL!
I've heard many people say the inexpensive, store-bought or fast-food coffees (like from McDonalds or Burger King) can be just as good (if not better) than the expensive franchised drinks. Even their pastry treats, to me, aren't worth the money. I'll save my cash and go to a bakery!
I could be biased though - I hate coffee! :)

OK. Let me first say that I am NOT campaigning to keep the Starbucks open and I didn’t click the link provide. Starbucks some locations is more than just a coffee place. People go there and study all day in lieu of libraries and books stories because there is enough ambient noise that people can concentrate on what they are studying and stay awake. The food is over priced but they let you bring in food from outside (unlike a library), heck I have actually gone and made PB & J sandwiches at one near my apt where a study group I'm apart of meets. It also serves as a place where people meet to talk about life, or meet on neutral grounds. People at my church tend to say let's me at the Starbucks near there, because in most neighborhoods there is at least one. (Think before the onset of higher gas prices) On road trips most passengers could agree to stop at a Starbucks. There will be something for everyone and you knew what you liked because if there is one thing that Starbucks is outside of expensive it's consistent regardless of where you were in the world - a Carmel apple spice would taste the same. I even think that most Starbucks (at least in the Chicago area) have free T-mobile wifi so several people go all day to get out of their cramped apt to surf the Internet. I even joked about pretending that a Starbucks was my living room and inviting people to one and host it there, I think they would let me too. All that to say that I don't think people are upset about the coffee but the extras that Starbucks offers and isn't charging for.

I think their coffee is everything you said - highly overrated.
However, when I was doing Weight Watchers, once a week for a treat, i used to get a Grande Nonfat Decaf Hazelnut Latte. I felt like I was cheating, but it was only a couple of points. Only problem is, by the time I learned to say it, I had fallen off the wagon and gained most of my weight back, anyway. =+)
I do, however, appreciate Starbuck's social responsibility.
Down the hatch!

Come down to Texas during basketball season. Sometimes in general season or during the play-offs, a local corner store chain (Valero) will give free coffee when the San Antonio Spurs win.

The regular coffee sucks. Everything else is not too bad but I'm not CRAZY for it. I think its just for the mini ego trip of saying "hey I'm special, I can afford to throw 5 dollars away on a simple cup of coffee"
but not really.

To me, coffee is coffee. So I can't see why on God's natural green harvesting earth Starbuck's coffee is so dang high!
I'm just fine with my cafeteria's 95 cent (for a tall) cup of coffee, which they make by the vat.

Their Blueberry muffins are to die for. When i was pregnant I craved them and I went to buy one and they said they were out. So the next day I went there and asked for a muffin and they said sure how many. I slapped a 100 dollar bill on the counter and I said "All of them Please" But I do agree their coffee is not good at all. Wawa all the way!
