The SR22 is a form for the DMV of financial responsibility. Your insurance fills it out and sends it to the DMV to get your driver's license back. It just tells the DMV you have insurance. It costs about $20 or more in your insurance bill.

An SR22 is basically a statement from your insurance company that you're insured by them. Your insurance company has to provide this information about everyone - it's not necessarily specific to your situation.
