I am about 4.5 months pregnant and have signed up for a class at my local hospital in March. I am due at the beginning of May. When do you normally take childbirth classes? Earlier or later or whenever? Do they always show a video at the course? My husband may not be able to watch it!
What do you think? Thanks!

I think we took ours around 6 months. It's just whenever you feel comfortable, but I would recommend doing it before you get too big and uncomfortable. At our class, the instructor told us whenever she was going to show anything that might make people queasy. Just ask the instructor before hand to make sure your husband knows when somethings coming!

My doctor signed my husband and I up when I was about 6 and 1/2 months pregnant. That way we'd be done around the 8 months or so. They showed us a couple of videos and had us do breathing exercises and things like that. The best part, I thought, was when the instructor brought in different kinds of food to give us an example of what 10cm were or 1 cm. I'll never forget when she showed the Ego waffle and said, "this is about 10cm, this is how big you'll be when you're ready to start pushing" When you look at a waffle and think about it AHH ha ha

We were told whenever, but usually around 6 months or so. They do show a video at the hospitals where I live. We ended up not signing up for a class and I am glad we didn't. It was nice doing things our own ways. Also, if you don't do the class you can pick up the info and videos at the hospital- most will loan them out.

I just called about a lamaze class myself. I'm 22 weeks right now and will be due the beginning of April. They put me in a class starting February 20th. I'm taking the same class a friend of mine is going through and they have shown videos... but I'm sure they're all different.

usually at the end, but whenever you are ready. yes, they usually show a video. You have to be comfortable with taking the class we started, but never finished and everything was fine. Talk to your dr. be very informed and expect some pain.

It partially depends upon the type of classes you are taking. Lamaze classes are started later than Bradley ones. The Bradley classes are started sooner because there are more sessions and more to learn.
