air is complex. mostly nitrogen (like 75% or so).
if you want to separate every element, use fractional distillation (look it up) if you want specific elements/molecules, then your best bet is to find something that has an affinity to what you want like burning oxygen near carbon makes carbon dioxide, monoxide, etc.
don't expect a full lecture on Y! answers..
