We've all seen what happened to celebs like Michael Vick and Lil' Kim. These celebs have one thing in common--When faced with trial, they lied rather than told the truth and went to jail--FOR NOTHING! Since when did going to jail look cool? Last time I checked, jail was not the best place to be! You have all these celebs who brag about how they spent time in jail all because of a lie they told! The kids of America look at stuff like this and emulate it and think it's alright! I have a question for the rest of America: If you knew someone, say, a convicted killer/rapist stayed next door to you, would you do the right thing and take the necessary steps to put him away to make sure justice is served? Or would you turn a blind eye and let this person go free because you're "scared" of what could happen to YOU if you do? If you do this, you're only allowing it to happen again! Would you go to jail for someone else's stupidity? I damn sure WOULD NOT! What do the rest of you think about it?

Well Nate, I agree with you all the way! I am a mother and a grandmother and I believe we have to protect each other. I believe if we lie and protect these people, rest assured they will continue to kill and rape and count on us to continue to protect them!! And while we sit in jail for them, what is happening to other innocent people out there??? This is not cool!!! I am a child of the 60's!! I know COOL!! THIS AIN"T IT!!

I think if you want society to improve it is your duty to do the right thing and not be influenced by what might happen to you. Micheal Vick lied but went to jail for a brutal crime. Dog fighting is deplorable and anyone that endorses it is lacking in basic morality and responsibility. If nothing else he deserves to be in jail for abject stupidity. What a career to throw away. A convicted rapist that lives next door to you does not need to be put away. He's already been put away and is now out and deserves watching since he is a sexual predator. I have no intention of going to jail for someone else stupidity either and I have no intention of letting anyone put me in that place. I think I see what you are trying to say-about social responsibility-but you need to think about what you are saying. There are times when it is difficult to do the right thing because the circumstances can affect those around you as well as yourself. It's everyones responsibility to make this place a better place.

Not a lot of your question makes a lot of sense, however I will address a few things:
1. Mike Vic did not go to prison for nothing. He went to prison for running dog fights. Had he plead guilty he would have gone to prison SOONER for running dog fights.
2. You then asked about a convicted person living next door. Being a convicted person is not illegal, so I am not even sure what I would turn them in for. if a WANTED person lived next door I would turn them in. If I had information about any wanted person regardless of where they lived, I would turn them in.

Hey now! Even Martha Stewart made prison look a like a cool, cake walk. But to answer the question, I think we gauge the consequence to us before getting involved, if we feel it is undesirable, we turn the blind eye. If we can take it we get involved.

I'm not really sure where you are coming from here. What did Vick lie about? I though he was in prison because he was honest with the Feds and struck a plea deal...

Because personal accountability no longer exists.

The justice system is a joke, no one is punished the way they should be punished regardless of lying or misleading, right President Klinton?

People are more concerned with who survives the next week of dancing with the stars to worry about their God given rights or raising their children the way they should.
