Anyone thats been on and is now off the injection....how long did it take for it to wear off and your periods to return? Ive been off it for 3 years but have implanon now and have been having cramps, is this just the depo wearing off?

Earlier this year, I went from depo to the pill. It only took a couple of months to get my period back, but even then, it was a very light period. They get increasingly heavier each month. My ob/gyn said that it can take a while (up to a year and a half) in some women for depo to wear off and for your body to adjust.

Depo shouldn't still be affecting you 3 years after removal. The cramps are more likely to be caused by the Implanon. I went from Depo to Inplanon & ended up with really heavy, almost constant painful bleeding. I had the Implanon removed after 8 months, it was just too much. My sister had the same experience.

Edit - I was on it for 3 years, the advice I received was that it can take from a couple of months to a year for your body to be rid of Depo.

Hi, I was on Depo for three years as well. It took 3 months from the time my last shot ran out, to get my period. I never had any cramps unless it was my period starting.

you have been off it for THREE years? that's not depo doing anything then. I was on it for 6 months and my periods came back after 2 months but if you are on it for longer then it takes longer to get out your system. I think!

i was on it for 4 years and it took me 10-11months to get my periods back. my first was really bad and i felt ill - dizzy and nauseated then they ever very irregular for a while. i shouldnt think it is the depo you are getting cramps from.

It took me three months to get them back and that was only because I immediately went to the pill.
