Law enforcement had a bad habit of inciting violence at peaceful protests. They would also get out of hand in already violent protests. Generally law enforcement protects the status quo, so they were on the side of the racists most of the time.

In many areas known black protesters would be immediately arrested instead of waiting for them to actually do anything, even the ones known for non-violence.

Im tired of the south getting all the blame. Spend 5 minutes looking into racism in Chicago and you'll see that it was a national problem, not a regional one. The mayor at one point hired people to attack peaceful civil rights protestors!

MOST SOUTHERN LAW ENFORCEMENT WAS WHITE, GOOD OLD BOYS, WHO WERE MEMBERS OF THE KKK AND SO THEY DID EVERYTHING IN THEIR POWER TO HELP THE PEOPLE WHO WERE TRYING TO STOP THE CIVIL RIGHTS MOVEMENT AND STOP OR SLOW THOSE WHO WERE ATTEMPTING TO ENFORCE IT.
