I just refilled the coolant, which was bone dry just two days ago, but the engine is overheating very Quickly and when I turn the heater on freezing cold air comes out even after the engine has warmed up. Recently a bit of warm air has been coming out the left vent, but the far right vents are still freezing. I tried clearing off some of the air intake vents, but that didn't seem to help. Any answers?

My first question is why was the coolant level so low? Did you fix a leak or are you just filling because you haven't serviced your car for so long. If there is a leak, you will be low on coolant again and this would explain both problems as the motor needs coolant more than you need heat. Stop driving the car as if you are overheating, you will be damaging motor. Find and fix leak, internal, external or both. Then refill coolant system and get air bubbles out and then recheck everything after.

For your heat to work anti-freeze needs to get to your heater core which is under the dash on the passenger side of your vehicle. You may have a block somewhere so the anti-freeze is not getting through the system or you have a VERY BAD leak and you are already low again. Being that he heater core is usually the highest point in the cooling system and water tends to travel and fill the lowest areas first, if you have lost a good amount of anti-freeze since your fill up the other day you could be low again. I would have a mechanic take a look at it, it sounds like you have a bigger problem than just being a little low on anti-freeze. Good Luck!

ah, my guess is that you have a coolant leak (most likely a shot radiator). You have no coolant in there and that's why your engine is heating up so fast.

However, the fact that you have no hot air makes me think it could be a thermostat problem. The inside of your engine is overheating, but your interior heat isn't pulled from there that'd be a lot of bad fumes, your heat is pulled from your hot coolant in the radiator (I believe). The car doesn't run long enough to heat up the radiator / coolant system. Meaning you're not getting circulation. I would now look at the water pump and thermostat, probably replace them both, if I remember right it's not hard on that model 3.2v-6 right?

if you did a comprestion test and it failed then you need to have the head machined and measure the clearance on the block with a straigt edge clerance should be less than 9 thousands of an inch. that car has an aluminum head and it over heated likey its warped. if the compresstion test passed i would tell you to check the fan are they cycling on and off as they should. is the radiator blocked. presuure test the radiator cap. see if its holding the psi ots rated at and not bleeding off. you just had the head replaced. and the w-pump could very well be an air poket. use a vacume filler to eliminate this. i have also seen water jackets on the eingine get bloekd with casting sand. they had a recall on some of them for that problem. thats a problem with the manufacturing proscess. they didnt get they use sand to help cut the metal. and they use sand in the casting mold so it dosent stick together. chrusler had a sand issue on their 3.5 litre eignines. anyway since you said it failed a compression test i would say the head is warped. i would take the head off anf measure the clearance. whatever you do dont use stop leak. it will screw up more than it fixes. hope i helped.

your car hasn't been totally filled with antifreeze/water yet.u have to fill it up and then run it with the heater on until the thermostat opens.thiis allows the air pockets to move out of the system.then once the t-stat opens you'll need to add more fluid to it.these cars are bad about the intake gaskets leaking and usually have to be replaced.it's not that hard of a job to do yorself but be sure you have a repair manual handy so that you get the correct torque on the intake bolts and the correct torque sequence this is very important to do because these gaskets are plastic and will break causeing the same problems u r having now.good luck..

Sounds like you are low on coolant, you need to cheadjust the level and adjust with the proper coolant, watch for leaks, if no leaks are visible you may have a blown head gasket, and if the engine has been overheated the head may be warped.
