when i first found out i was pregnant i never had kept track of my menstrual cycle and it was pretty irregular.. id go 2 or 3 months at a time with no period... so when i went to the doctors they told me i was 5 weeks and 6 days pregnant on may 4th... i understand the math behind the 40 week thing goes back to the first day of your last period.. but since i didn't know, and went by measurements, does that mean i should be expecting the baby sooner then 40 weeks? basically im asking would 5 weeks and 6 days prior to may 4th have been the date of conception or do they calculate that with the extra time for the period also? sorry so complicated i could barely understand my own question rereading it but please try to understand it haha i swear it makes sense

If this is fetal measurements, which are the most accurate, then 5 weeks and 6 days basically 6 weeks back is or is around the day of conception give or take a day or two.

If you are calculating by first day of last period then you would remove the average two weeks. But since you don't have regular periods I'd imagine this wasn't the case. And if you told your DR that you are unsure of you last period, they usually do a vaginal ultrasound to determine the # of weeks you are. Ultrasound results are closer, but they are still give or take 5 days for your due date.

If they did an ultrasound and predicted it by measurements then they are doing it as if you had a regular cycle, I am really irregular too, hadn't had a period since February, but the measurement said I was at 6 wks 5 days so we just pretended that I had had a period on April 7th I am now 35 wks 2 days

when i had my first ultrasound it was around the same time. I also asked this question. The lady told me that because the baby is still small it is easier to tell. That it would be the closest measurement and estimated date. Dont expect anything. Just go with the flow and you'll know when it's time for your little one to come. Good luck and Congrats.

The first measurement is usually the most accurate. Of all the measurements we had it was definitely the closest for us. The others said he was weighing in big and due much early, but he actually came a few days after the original estimated delivery date.

I even have 15 month previous twins who spent the 1st 2 weeks of their existence aside. earlier they have been born my pediatrician and that i had desperate that sharing a crib is a competent element for twins. One became born with a disability and spent 2 weeks interior the well-being facility. the full time he became interior the well-being facility he does no longer consume, he slightly wiggled and rarely made a valid. the different twin became the acceptable opposite, under pressure and cranky. The day I delivered the 2nd little one abode I positioned them interior the crib jointly, located a similar way they have been interior the womb. It became magical the way they reacted to a minimum of one yet another. They reached out and held hands, became in direction of one yet another, smiled and fell asleep. 3 days later my one son began taking a bottle. many human beings say there's a particular connection between twins and that it could help them heal, i incredibly have faith this. My son with the incapacity became interior the well-being facility returned this week and became completely depressing, finally I took his brother to work out him. For an hour they performed jointly and enjoyed on one yet another. It became a turning element. the following day he got here abode from the well-being facility. sturdy success

They'll be able to get a better time line when they do a sonogram. They're able to measure the size of the baby and determine exactly how far along you are.

In your case... I think doctors will most likely base it on the ultrasound... Which is the most accurate...
