First of all, all hard drives should be "divided" or "formatted" as it is called so that the hard drive works quicker. If your C drive is full try to move any and all data files, music, movies, word documents, pictures, etc over to D. All you have to do is cut and paste the C drive item and paste it in D drive. Now as far as moving programs from C to D, I'm afraid the only thing you can do is uninstall from C and reinstall in D. If you try to simply move the program, it will not run in the new drive, it has to be reinstalled. A couple of things you may want to try and do to save space is to click on control panel, go to add or remove programs, and remove any old programs that you don't use. Also, you can try and compress old files. What you do here is pull up 'My Computer', right click on your C drive, go to properties, and click on disk cleanup. Under disk cleanup, it can give you several options to get more drive space and choosing an option such as "compress old files", does not harm your computer, just stores the files you haven't used in awhile in a different way. Emptying out temporary files(also under disk cleanup) is a good idea too to get more space. I hope I could help. Good Luck!

Normally the D drive holds special files needed to restore your computer should it crash. You usually should not place anything else on the D drive.

You can transfer data files (music, pictures, documents, videos, etc) to the D drive, but not programs. If you were to move them, the information installed in the registry and elsewhere about them would be wrong, and the programs would not longer work.

Yes you can resize partitions - Power Quest which was bought by Symantec had a great product Partition Magic.

You may find it cheaper elsewhere, but it is the best. There is a freeware program called Partition Logic - http://partitionlogic.org.uk/ I have not tested yet.
It's up to you & how much you value the data.

In most new systems, D drive is your backup stuff so that you can restore your system to its orignal state using a special utility at power up.

You won't be allowed to transfer stuff off of D and I have never tried to see if you can write to D but I expect not.
