I used to live there until june this year, and it's a great place. There are a lot of great places to eat/drink, but my advice to anyone visiting is to stay out of the centre if you want to experience the real prague. There are too many tourists there now, and too many stag partys. I would hop on a tram and go about 10 mins out of the centre to Zizkov (the largest number of bars per person in europe) or Karlin (Where I lived - a lot of nice restaurants, and Herna bars (gambling 24 hour bars) with beer for as low as 75 cents.)

i was there about 3 years ago for about two weeks. i was doing the Motzart trek. i loved it. i didn't find it all that expensive...until i started hitting the clubs. then it started to add up. I loved the late night food vendors on the street. Cheaper then Denny's and better food (without the discrimination) i definitely found there was a tourist track and then one for locals. i wouldn't say there was a plethera of internet cafes but there were enough. i found it cheaper to pay the 'all day' price at the hotel i was staying at. I think it was the santa maria or something like that. it was near the train station. if you're a culture vulture you are in for a great time. If you're going for late night clubbing, there's a good nightlife but not like the states. the employment system there is very different than ours. ask the locals, you'll be amazed. i found the '9-5's very average people and not all the forward and friendly, but who is? after the sun set, then people were out and about to enjoy themselves. watching soccer at a local pub, darts that kind of thing. see the symphony! yes, there are many "ladies of the evening" shall we say. and they're not cheap. there are many a club set up for that. i found the late night dance spots more to my taste, finding the trek cheaper and achieving the same result. (dont go all moral on me, i was on holiday) if you run out of money. get your bank here in the states to wire it there. going to the local banks and trying it in the reverse is costly and difficult. i speak german and found it very helpful. on the tourist track lots of people speak english. if you wander off for some real culture you may be doing a lot of pantomiming. the Czech language isn't as easy as it sounds. i found german to be a good inbetween. Crime isn't prevelant but does exist especially if you look the tourist. my best advice: you're young. there's plenty of fish in the sea. don't miss this opportunity to see some amazing art and history for a few pints and a flirt. so many museums and so much history! i was in a centuries old church in tears the art was so powerful. there are tours in english always going on at nearly all the cultural vistas. i wound up having to take a bus or two to get to a few of them. well worth the investment. Enjoy. Safe Travels.

I've been there twice and your money can go a long way, if you're careful. It's a lovely city, really nice people, and very easy to get around. Stay away from Stag Party Central around Wenceslas Square and you'll be alright. I prefer the small quarter on the same side of the river as the castle.

Good place for cheap food and drink. Lots of culture and history, as Prague did not suffer much damage from bombing during the last war. Excellent fine glassware if you want to buy expensive looking presents.
We found the weather did everything in one day: sunny, then rainy, then sun again and then it snowed.
Big caution. Taxi drivers. We only found out when we were checking out that there was a fixed rate for taxis, and only one journey was charged at the set amount!
As we had arrived at the hotel by taxi from the bus station, after a 20 minute taxi ride, we asked the receptionist to call a taxi to take us back to the bus station. She looked puzzled, and pointed out of the window at the bus station, all of a 2 minute walk from the hotel! Beware!!

A very beautifully preserved city.
There aren't good clubs or nightlife.
The Old Town is very beautifully and the Prague Castle with St. Vitus Cathedral.

went for a weekend just over 4 years ago, we went in April so it was not that cold but not hot sunny.
It is a very pretty city and we really enjoyed ourselves, it was cheap, we stayed in a 4 star hotel on the outskirts (but still on metro station)
I would definitely go back, the Jewish quarter was impressive!
