Trying to Remember a Movie!!!?

Question

...trying to remember a movie, which I saw at one of my local downtown grindhouse theaters, back in the late '80s' (...might have even been early '90's). I remember something about a young couple, traveling in the desert, who pick up a deranged and psychopathic artist; this guy strands the husband in the middle of the hot desert, runs off with his wife in their recreational vehicle, and once he has her to himself, he tortures her, both physically and mentally, and finally rapes her. At the end of the film, the husband, barely alive, catches up with the psychopath, and dishes out some fateful and well-applied vengeance...

...it was very compelling, grim and uncomfortably disturbing, yet at the same time, it was very allurring and sexy....and for the life of me, I cannot remember the title...

I'd very much like to get this movie; has anyone ever heard of it??

...does actor Esai Morales strike a familiar cord??? I seem to recall seeing a rather similar film, myself...a very gripping terror/thriller flick, where Esai plays a psychotic artist, who terrorizes an estranged couple in the desert (...Death Valley, if I recall correctly); it was called "Ultraviolet", culled from the Roger Corman film production camp in 1992...

there have been 2 video clips that i will remember like that. The Burbs with Tom Hank and pals with John Belushi & Dan Aykroyd. i do no longer remember Rick Moranis enjoying in the two a style of action pictures till it became a small cameo area.
