I keep reading people on here talking about sex addiction. I'm not sure how one would define that, exactly...as long as one isn't making unhealthy or unsafe choices about his/her body...

I guess I am really asking: What is a sex addict?

well it can be addiction or obsession if your constantly thinking about sex and always masturbating. sex is natural and quite enjoyable with the right person. I need mental stimulation and physical attraction, and many dates for many months, before having sex. I wished everyone would really think about sex!!! If your ready to make a baby, and this man might be the father of your child..could u would u want him too? If the answer is NO then why have sex!!this is how all people must look at the situation because at any time.It happen so many unwanted pregnancy just because you were to buzz and horny. so many sex addict have more of psychology problem that's turn into rape, molester and other illegal fetishes.I know guy are more horny between 17-27 where as girl reach their prime between 28-35.so if young girl are having sex its probably they been sexual assault or abused and have no idea whats the differences between love and sex, depending on age, who, and what was done, many young girl become sexually over active and are call nympho's. A nympho is a sex addict.so YES there are individuals with this addiction and should be seeking help.

I think that it is like everything else, it is an addiction when it intrudes on your quality of living, when it becomes a way to avoid facing things in your life. That being said, while what you say seems a bit extreme, I'm judging that against my own life. So as long as it's not a crutch or interfering with having an actual relationship with your partner then go for it, if it is, then it is an addiction.

You might want to see a therapist. If it bothers you enough to ask, then it may very well be a problem

If you and your LONG TERM partner are doing that and you both are comfortable with it, there's nothing wrong at all. That just means you both are enjoying yourselves.

On the overhand, you have a wonderful partner that will have sex with you whenever you want but that not enough that's a different story. Lets say your partner does just that, then you turn around and would rather watch porn or go out and have sex with someone else, obsess about sex with others, there maybe a problem.

An "addiction" usually refers to something that has started preventing the person from holding a job, maintaining their house, participating socially...basically prevents them from living within the "social norm" and being a functions, contributing member of society. If that's not the case, it's probably not a true addiction; at least in terms of a legal or clinical definition.

I can have sex all the time. I want it as often as I can get it. If he's not up to the challenge I have no problems doing it by myself. I would prefer him to wanna but sometimes thats not possible I guess.

I think its when all u do is think about sex, all u wanna do is have sex, u can not concentrate on anything else but sex...hey wait I'm begining to think I'm an addict haha that's cuz i am.

My understanding of sex addiction is that it is an all consuming obsession, porn all of the time, sex all of the time and that is all the person wants to do in their spare time. I don't know if what you are describing is a sex addiction, it sounds like they are enjoying themselves.

Extreme in every sense of the word. Even crack addicts take a break now and then.

I would call such a person bipolar before anything else comes to mind.

Have you resolved the other issues you mentioned before?

If it works for them....it's not an addiction and also it's no body's business how often they have sex.
