DSL. You don't share with anybody.

IT kind of depends of which area you are in. I have DSL but the highest I can get in my area is 1.5 mps . Plus I think when to there becomes to much trafic somewhere along the way my connect drops (cuts off) and then when and if it reconnects its a lower speed (like even 128kbs)
Cable I guess can slow down if a lot of your neghbors have the same type of connection. I don't think the connection is lost very often if ever and with Cable you can reach higher speeds.

Does anybody know if there is anything between Dial up (56k) and low DSL 256k. Something around like 100 -150k?

Depends on the DSL.

Generally speaking cable is faster.

If you can get what is known as ADSL2+ then it will be similar performance to cable.

DSL has all kinds of gotcha's buried in the details of the technology that can effect performance and reliability.

If you have the choice, I'd get cable.

Cable it is allot faster and you don't have to share with anyone. Although dsL is allot cheaper. I would still go with cable.

cable, is more realiable, because it is direct. dsl can be ok, but it depends where your located. your far better having a proper coaxial cable running through the wall..
