If you wanted to play one of those pos. you would most likely have to get to 205 -225 with agility and hands. 5-8 is difficult size you have to try harder than the rest.I'm 5-8 but weight 160 and and it's hard to gain the weight. Keep it up and work hard it will be worth it in the end.

Try to go mountain bike riding and push yourself you'll lose weight fast and gain leg strength.

If you have lost the passion for the game then stop playing it. Plain and simple. This is a game that demands a lot out of you and, even at the HS level, can leave you with many nagging pains that will be with you for the rest of your life. I know! Played football since I was old enough to carry one and I had a passion for it that extends to my fan status today at 40 years old. Still, I have creaky knees, a hip that pops out of socket occasionally, and I can usually tell you when we are getting some rain due to my bad shoulder. I personally would not trade my memories for anything, but that is a very personal decision. I also know that if I hadn't been a starter every minute that I played I might not have had the same view of it. Practice was rough (South Texas meant 90+ degrees almost always) and expectations were always super high. But the brotherhood I shared with my teammates is something that I share to this day. I live 1500 miles away from that small Texas town today but whenever I roll into town for a visit I can still find several buds to sit around and have a beer with and relate to. We have that strong common bond that hasn't been shaken 20+ years later. However, if you don't have the passion then you also probably don't have those same kind of bonds and it might just not be worth it to you. Enjoy your life and do what you want to do. You are the only one that you have to please.

That's good that you lost the weight. Keep doing what you're doing and hit the weights. The weight thing is hard to tell because as you know, football players tend to be big. Just keep cutting down on the bodyfat and play. Here are some good websites for you:

i don't want to hurt your spirts, but the only way you are playing full back at 274lbs and 5'8" is if its goal line, you could try for center, your short and wide, makes it hard to get to the quarter back, i suppose though it realy matters what level of Football you are trying to play, and how muscular you are

5'8" and 274 lbs?
Try bowling, you are the right shape to be used as the ball.
I seriously doubt the numbers you quote.
