Yeah, after my mom got divorced from a 7 month marriage I went to see a psychiatrist because I began cutting myself and I was diagnosed as manic depressive. It's better to be diagnosed then to be a prisoner of your own mind.

Not psychiatric help for me, but more psychological help. I was reading through my old journals when I realized that I'd been dealing with the same problems for 8 years. It crushed me, but helped me to see that I couldn't make changes on my own. So ... I got help - and I got better!

I am there with "Bradley" too! I have dreams of a disturbing past and know I should seek help, but I try to stay strong and bury it. I pray to God and stay positive. I look forward to all that is good in my life and focus on that! If not, I think I could go postal!

sure have.
i don't think theres anything wrong with seeking psychiatric help. i think it is very important to go through therapy, rather than just settling for the "medication" they try to prescribe you though. it feels great to have someone give you non-biased advice on whatever it is that is troubling you.

ive always known but iv never gotten good pyschiatric help because all my psychologists have been biased or didnt do their job in any way shape or form. psychiatry and psychology is a joke. prozac kills more people than it saves and psychologists are paid to pretend to care about people they couldnt care less about an all they do is make assumptions that your problems are always caused by one major previous event which is pure BS. Psychiatry and psychology is a joke.

sure! I have had a job loss that was hard to cope with and also had a very tough relationship break up that was hard on me emotionally.

There is a Psychologist near me that I go to once in a while that helps me gather my thoughts and keeps me focused on my goals.

I definitely recommend them even after your crisis passes.
