I love sledding. I always went late @ nite went with friends to avoid crowds. One time we witnessed a guy peeing by his car as they were about to leave & we were arriving. Another time a friend & I went for hot chocolate afterwards & noticed in the restaurant bathroom that we had dirt/grass on our face from a sled collision! I got a nasty backbone bruise that time. I still love to sled. :)

Another time I took my sister & her 2 children. My sister went downhill with her son & I went with her daughter in another sled. The snow was soft/fluffy & went all up in our faces. After we got downhill I looked at my sister & she looked ticked off & her son started crying...I cringed & turned to look at my co-rider & she was laughing. My sister was so ticked that she made us leave after that one ride down. Talk about different personalities, eh?

My older sister came home from college and met up with a high school friend. A boy. He had never been sledin'! College age and lived in Iowa! My brother and I took the two of the to "the hill" in our little town. Got him to the top. Sat him down told him to hang on. He screamed like a little girl all the way down and then sat there for about 5 min. Trying to get the nerve to walk back up the hill.
He had a good time, but the rest of us have never laughed so hard.

Well, there was the time I went with two of my female friends, we had one sled between us, so we had to sandwhich together and all ride down at once. It was dark out, and we didn't know some kids had built a little ramp thing at the bottom of the hill, to jump with their snowboards. Needless to say we hit it dead on, went flying up in the air, all three in a different direction, and landed, so friggging hard. None of us moved for like five mminutes, but the funny thing was, it was very late and we thought we were the only ones in this park, but people started emerging out of the shadows and nooks and coming up asking if we were okay. I'm like "Jesus, why are all of you people creeping around like this, you seem decent"

All of my friends decided to take this big piece of thick plastic (the kind you cover your windows w/ during the winter) and sled down this steep hill off to the side of the house. So here we go and there was like 5 of us on the thing and were going down the hill when we hit a bump and piled up my crush some how flips over my head and we both proceed down the hill at odd angels Were I end up coming to a stop with my face right between his legs. It was so embracing. To make matters worse one of his friends asked if I'd give him one when my crush was done.

This one time me and some friends went up to the mountains to go inner tubing, it's like sledding but you use this big tire, and we had this smart idea to get into this train all the way up the hill and go down that way, me being one of the ones in the middle, had no control of my tire since my feet were being held by the person in front and I was holding onto the feet of the person behind me, so we were gliding down the hill when we hit some rocks and went up in the air, my tube went gliding on without me and I landed smack on my tail bone, ouch it was painful!! I was having flash backs the whole way home!

My wife, two daughters and I went sledding a few years ago. A rather large man came down the hill after us, out of control. He screamed to get out of the way. I reached over and grabbed my then 5 year old by the jacket and pulled her to safety. Unfortunately I tore my rotator cuff and had to have it surgically repaired. To this day (8 years later) my daughter calls me her hero.

My dad used to tie the sled to the back of the pickup and we would ride down the streets pretty fast.
Now sadly if anyone did that they would be reported for child abuse.
