Whichever candidate sells for the most wins, we could even see who was doing the bidding?

great thought - you get a star!

elected offices have been up for auction for decades now, perhaps even longer and it's a national disgrace!

our own elected process has managed to somehow remove any real choice that any of us have.

this two party system has failed america, but not the parties involved.

but americans shouldn't forget that the way we spend our money has a greater ability to re-write how things are than any other single thing in this nation.

the organization of consumer groups to directly confront the corporations that want to run our lives is right around the corner.

in doing this, we the unrepresented taxpaying consumers, can eliminate the middle men/women (politiicans) who now act as corporate watchdog groups.

While I understand the frustration behind the question-I suggest a different view-how about we do away with the electoral college and let everyones vote count- also while we are on election reform I think all candidates should be given X amount of dollars and that is it-I also want election day to be a national holiday to encourage voting-it is hard to convince someone to vote if they have to work two jobs and have no time to get to the polls.........

Don't forget that other high bidders could also get jobs as advisers in (or to) the Administration. That would help to balance the flow of ex-government officials taking jobs for lobbyists, Blackwater, etc.

I also like Richard's idea of sponsors! Not so sure about that 'Mellow Yellow Candidate' though, I think it has something to do with yellow-cake aftertaste.

I think we should try a reality show like "American Idol." Our elections have turned into nothing but a popularity contest, sort of like voting for King & Queen of the Prom in high school.

In fact, IMHO, as time goes on, the US becomes more and more like one big gigantic high school. (With about that level of maturity.)

Presidential candidates should be like little league baseball teams or race cars - their sponsors should be obvious to voters.

That sounds good, but also there should be sponsors, like they do for NASCAR, you know like the Mellow Yellow Candidate?
